JDBA Architecture + Planning completed design documents in August, 2006 for the new Central Region Elementary School #13 to be constructed near Los Angeles’ Historic West Adams residential neighborhood, within a historic commercial area developed in the 1930’s. JDBA worked closely with the Los Angeles Unified School District and local stakeholders to create a facility design that is integrated with the neighborhood and an asset to the community.

The new, two-story school is designed to accommodate 875 students from kindergarten to fifth grade with a program area of 68,197 square feet. A library will be located at the intersection of the major streets bordering the site. With windows twenty-four feet high, this signature architectural element serves a visual anchor for the school. JDBA designers utilized a broad base of experience with private sector commercial design to ensure this new school will enhance the existing commercial character.
