This cast-in-place concrete auditorium was designed by local architect Ralph C. Flewelling in 1928, based on the historical revivalism of Mediterranean style popular during that time. An unfortunate renovation in the 1950’s covered the original proscenium wall with plaster and removed the ornamentation around the stage.

JDBA designed the restoration to the auditorium as part of a $4.5 million modernization project at Hawthorne School, one  of the more significant examples of historically inspired architecture in the City of Beverly Hills, which is eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places.  JDBA utilized CADD based three dimensional design tools to effectively communicate the extent of the renovation.
