James D. Black Associates was formed in
1989 for the practice of architectural design and urban planning. For over
30 years as a Principal of several Los Angeles based architectural firms,
including the last 18 years as principal of JDBA, Mr. Black has had
primary leadership responsibility for the design of hundreds of major
commercial, retail, and institutional projects. The total construction
cost of these projects is in excess of 800 million dollars with many

JDBA has established a close working relationship with municipal
jurisdictions and government agencies throughout Southern California as
well as with many of the leading engineering design firms, construction
companies, construction lenders, financial institutions and development
companies. These professional relationships, in conjunction with the
firm’s track record in leading the design of many large and successful
projects provide the firm with considerable momentum in the execution of a

Our office in the Mid-Wilshire area of the City is centrally located to
the greater metropolitan region of Los Angeles. Our firm's longevity in
